Things FFXIV Does Right

Are you a prospective FFXIV player? Trying to convince a friend to start playing? Or, have you played for years and simply want to remind yourself why this game is so great? This blog post will focus on the positives of FFXIV and what makes it such a unique MMORPG experience.

Class/Job System

Something unique to the Final Fantasy franchise has always been their job system. Characters throughout the series have been able to switch between jobs seamlessly, and this is no different in FFXIV. Instead of creating an alt for every class you want to play, you can develop one character and switch between jobs at will. There are currently 13 playable jobs and more to come.

Crafting

I've always hated crafting in MMOs. It was tedious, boring, and usually pointless. But FFXIV's crafting system is so complex and can actually be fun. And the best part is, I've actually made decent gil (money) off of it as a level 60 Leatherworker and Weaver! instead of just sitting there watching your character craft you are actually involved in the process with numerous skills, and at times it can be seriously challenging. Feeling a bit lazy? There's a quick synthesis option as well where your character quickly crafts a predetermined number of an item with no supervision. Minions

FFXIV introduced tiny little creatures called minions, which are modeled after monsters and familiar icons in the Final Fantasy series. They are vanity items and do absolutely nothing for gameplay, but who wouldn't want these cuties to follow them around all day? Gotta catch 'em all! Erm. I mean collect them all. Sorry, wrong game.

Glamour

Most people agree that the real end game content lies in glamour items. Glamour gives players the ability to overlay outfits over their gear in order to retain stats and look awesome at the same time. Below is the gorgeous Thavnairian set available to female characters.

Graphics/Eorzea

I mean, just look at those graphics. Eorzea is beautiful. Need I say more?

Overall there is truly no end of things to do in FFXIV. It will provide years of entertainment and good times with other players. As far as end game content, it's forever expanding with patches and new expansion packs. You will never get bored playing FFXIV!
